On May 29th and 30th, the Wayne State Warriors and head coach Tyrone Wheatley will host their National College Showcase.

The event will feature NFL-style combine testing, a parent recruiting seminar, 30 head coaches and many other staffs who will evaluate, coach on field and also participate in presentations and meet and greets.

It is the latest iteration of what began as the Sound Mind, Sound Body events in Detroit, which was a model for the current mega-camp structure.

Michigan, Michigan State, Maryland, Purdue, Penn State, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Tennessee, Miami (Fla.), Indiana, Rutgers, Arizona State, Arkansas, Kentucky, UCLA, Cincinnati, Kansas, Boston College, and Nebraska are among the Power Four programs scheduled to have coaches in attendance.

Nearly all of the Mid-American Conference will be represented as well as the academies, GLIAC programs, HBCU, FCS, NAIA and other Division II and III schools.

There will be plenty of talent on-hand for those schools to get a look at.

In the 2026 class, Detroit Cass Tech wide receiver/athlete C.J. Sadler and Akron (Ohio)Hoban cornerback Elbert Hill are already considered among the Top 75 prospects in the country in their class. J'Zavien Currence from Rock Hill (SC) South Pointe is a Top 100 prospect. Country Club Hills (Ill.) Hillcrest defensive lineman McHale Blade is also Top247 prospect in that class as is Paducah (Ky.) Tilghman offensive tackle Jarvis Strickland.

The home-state of this camp always has come out strong. From the early days when players like William Gholston (who is still in the NFL) attended through others like Donovan Peoples-Jones, Sauce Gardner and more, Detroit and the rest of the state have had players get discovered here or reaffirm their status as top recruits.

In addition to Sadler, Haslett running back Kory Amachree, Saline linebacker Isaiah Harris and tight end Lincoln Keyes, West Bloomfield offensive tackles Jay Gardenhire and Travis Robertson, and Dexter offensive tackle Owen Winder are Power Four prospects in the 2026 class.

The state is very strong in the 2027 class. Attendees such as Dakota Guerrant, Chad Willis, Darryl Flemister, Jameer Henry, Jabin Gonzalez and Anthony Cartwright will come in already holding college offers.

Of course, there will be 2025 prospects looking to up their profiles as well. Mason quarterback Cason Carswell had a great junior season and his off-season has brought about his first college offers.

In addition to Blade, Illinois will have several notable 2026 prospects attending including Chicago Maristoffensive tackle Rico Schrieber, who has offers from Iowa State, Boston College, Miami, Nebraska, Purdue and more.

IMG Academy's Alex Cross and Bishop Moore Catholic's Kenyon Alston are two Florida receivers in the 2026 class who come in holding college offers.

Chace Calicut, a 6-foot-3 defensive back from Houston (Tex.) North Shore with a Purdue offer will be one of the Lone Star State prospects participating.

As has been typical with this event, there will be a strong Tennessee contingent coming. Tight end Carson Sneed has been coming since his freshman year and is now recruited by major schools around the country. Chaston Smith and Justin Hopkins are two 2026 corners with offers from Power Four programs. Tyreek King is a playmaking wideout with quite a few Power Five offers. Owen Cabell is a bigger outside receiver who Georgia, Tennessee and others have offered. Joel Wyatt is a 6-foot-5, 200-pound athlete who could play any number of positions at the next level. Omari Sanders, KeSean Bowman, Dre Otey, DK Williams, Crews Jenkins, and Velon Henderson, are among the state's best 2027s.

Other top 2027s include Thompson (Ala.) EDGE Cameron Pritchett who has offers from Alabama, Florida, Kentucky, Texas, Texas A&M, Arkansas and others.

Quarterback Trae Taylor has offers from Michigan, Colorado, Miami, NC State, Purdue and more. Jameson Purcell, also from Illinois, has offers from Kentucky, Ole Miss, Louisville and others.

Judah Lancaster and Phoenix Jenkinsare two 2027s from Arizona who have huge upside. Lancaster is a 6-foot-4, 200-pound tight end/edge who has offers from Alabama, Arizona, Arizona State, Kansas and more. Jenkins does not have offers yet but at 6-foot-7, 300 pounds, may not have to wait long.

Running back Elijah Kimble is a '27 from New York coming in with offers from Oregon, Penn State, West Virginia, Pitt and more.

Aliquppa (Pa.) cornerback Larry Moon recently won MVP at an Under Armour Regional and the 2027 cover man has quite a few Power Four offers. Teammate Sa'Nir Brooks has an early Miami offer.

As this camp has typically been a proving ground for rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders, Pickerington (Ohio) North running back/defensive back Marquis Ray is a 2028 coming in with offers from Kentucky and UMass already.

Paris Johnson Jr. is among the future NFL players who participated in this event as a middle schooler.

Registration for the event is still open. Wednesday will be testing and check-in day along with media and meet and greet which will help coaches already know players and have them on the roster for Thursday's on-field drills and 1-1s.
