Where to eat: the 14 best restaurants in Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park (2024)

Bamboo Chopsticks is a charming café located near Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, known for its positive reviews. The menu offers a variety of dishes, including the Full English Breakfast and Seafood Salad, which are beautifully presented and delicious. The café's focus on reducing plastic usage in Vietnam is commendable, offering free water refills to reduce plastic bottle consumption. While the atmosphere is lovely, occasional noise from passing trucks may disrupt the tranquility.

During our stay in Phong Nha we came here a couple of times. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is great. Besides, the owner is very sweet and speaks good English. Definitely the best restaurant in town!

Wonderful location, staff and menu! We just came in for a coffee and smoothie, but loved the atmosphere and the owner was delightful. It’s great to see a cafe that is focused on the issues with plastic usage in Vietnam, and it felt really good to support their cause. They filled up our big bottle of water for free because we visited the cafe, which is a great system and meant we feel better for not buying more plastic bottles of water! We hope to see more cafes like this in the future through our travels! The drinks were delicious, at a great price, and has definitely got me liking glass straws as a new reusable option!

Had an amazing meal here the other night, such a shame I was only spending one night in Phong Nha otherwise I would have gone back! Ha, the lady who greeted us was so funny and charming! She gave us good recommendations, my friend and I shared the beef stew and the caramel pork with shrimp. It was incredible food. Very reasonably priced as well!

Was in town for 2 days, googled some viable food options and this popped up: it’s got a wonderful setting, friendly crew and some decent food. The only downside was the random flying co*ckroach that flew on my friend in the inside searing area but that’s just part and parcel of this delightful climate plus this place is open so can’t hold that much against the establishment.Would definitely recommend this place

If you are looking for a nice place to eat in Phong Nha I would highly recommend the Bamboo Cafe. It is a nicely decorated restaurant in the center of the city Phong Nha and offers reasonably priced food and many vegetarian options. I can highly recommend the Mango Salad, the Fresh Spring rolls, the eggplant taste and the Tofu Curry. These dishes cost between 50.000 and 60.000 VD. The Spaghetti were ok, but a little bit sweet-tasting and weren’t as convincing as the Thai food. The staff was very friendly and always asked if everything was fine. They also forbear from using plastic, which is very important in this day and age. We came here five times!

Loved to sit down and have breakfast over here. They have really good fruit juices (made with lots of fresh fruits, real juice, not lemonade). The coffee is locally sourced and organic too. The owner is very particular about the food and keeping quality control, but I have to say: it shows. The food and drinks are excellent. Be sure to get a nice juice or coffee. I can definitely recommend the Sunset and Sunrise drinks!

Pictured: The Full English Breakfast & The Seafood Salad. As you can see the salad was presented beautifully and tasted great. The use of passion fruit as a fish dressing really works! My partner had the breakfast and said it was OK. A traditional English breakfast is pretty hard to compete with so it’s still worth a try, but as you can see the items consist of saveloy as opposed to proper sausage and so on! It’s also the first time I’ve ever seen carrot, broccoli & bell pepper on a breakfast haha!We would definitely return though.

We were recommended this place by the homestay but once we sat we realized it was quite expensive. They had occidental options. The place looked very clean. The food was good but all the veggies were kinda raw. The pasta with cream was very tasty despite the veggie issue. And the garlic bread with cheese was really nice too.

Restaurant with good atmosphere in Phong Nah, Tuna Salad very good, Tofu Curry was a bit watery and could have more taste to it but still tasty! I really appreciate that they try to reduce their plastic waste, it's amazing to see that in a country like Vietnam! Quite cheap prices too and nice staff. Would recommend.

One of the best meals I’ve had in Vietnam so far. A little on the expensive side but was really worth it on a rainy day in Phong Nha. Proper winter warmer with the beef stew.Nice friendly service and great music on in the background. Highly recommend :)

5 star easy! Weren’t even hungry when I arrived. Ordered one of the specials and omg was I positively surprised. My tomato with meat and a cheesy carrot sauce was some of the best food I’ve had in Vietnam. The whole experience was terrific and the staff was not only extremely well spoken, but nice and genuine.MUST visit in Phong Nha!

Let me just say the food here is fantastic. We came here twice for Vietnamese food and both times it was really good. They have a lot of Vietnamese dishes that I think everyone will like. Also they have great deserts, I can recommend the penis banana (see photo). They speak good English. Also there are a few comfortable couches too chill out.

I can’t say enough about this entire experience. The location is perfect, right across the street from our hotel and near all the action. The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, warm and inviting. They also have a live fire with beautiful smoked wood to invigorate the senses while eating. The staff is amazing, especially my favourite member of their team, HÃ. Super funny, witty on top of being extremely accommodating. She seriously made us laugh. It really added to the entire experience. GIVE GER A RAISE!The prices are more than fair and the menu is fairly extensive. The food quality is amazing is amazing. we’ve gone back four times within our short stay.Just go and you won’t be disappointed, they run a very special operation with an entire “farm to table” “green earth” and sustainability mission operation integrated within their restaurant. Little changes for big impacts across the community, absolutely wonderful!Thank you for the experience

Nice atmosphere. Occasionally the trucks barrel by on the road. The smoothies were really good. I had veggie volcano, which was taste but a little bit lacking in flavor. I like that they use glass straws instead of plastic. At one point the waitresses were taking a break at the table right next to us, facing us, which was a little awkward. Definitely on the pricey side compared to other food in Vietnam.

Lovely food and plenty of vegetarian options. Also food portions are really good. Went there 4 times during our stay in Phong Nha. Would highly recommend the vege spring rolls, caramel tofu, mango smoothie and passion fruit smoothie. Also very kind and helpful staff. The owner is nice and likes to chat with his guests. Highly recommend this place.

The food was good. I would say if you want an authentic experience, then don’t come here. The entire restaurant was packed with tourists (granted I was one of them). If your goal is to eat westernized cuisine cause you miss it, then it’s great. But if you want more authentic cuisine you’re better off at a different restaurant.

Highly recommend, really friendly people, great menu choice and food was lovely. We had the spring rolls and then the caramel pork 😋 also it has a pool table and is plastic free. Great for breakfast or lunch

If you read from most blogs, hotels and social media this is a highly recommended place for dining at Phong Nha. It was recommended to us by our hotel staff, it’s got a wonderful setting and friendly crew.Everything was great about the place except the taste of the food is quite bland to us. But we’ve only tried the fried rice and noodles. The portion is huge for a single serving (for Asians), and service crew was nice to check on us and get our feedbacks.

Great and varied food and a wonderful team of people working there. Catering for both western and local tastes. Try the pork cooked in bamboo tube, it’s absolutely delicious! Nice co*cktails, juices and smoothies too.

Had a lovely experience eating here during our visit. The waitresses were all lovely and offered their recommendations for the food - the caramel tofu is one of the best tofu dishes I’ve ever had!! The drinks and atmosphere were also spot on.

I had an absolutely delightful experience at Bamboo Chopstick Restaurant. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making each dish a work of art. The ambience was very calming with soft music that created a truly chilled out atmosphere. What truly set this place apart, though, was the impeccable service. The staff were friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable. A special shoutout to Ms. Anh for her incredible service and great conversation. I highly recommend Bamboo Chopstick for a perfect blend of delectable cuisine, soothing ambience, and top-notch service.

Beautiful restaurant with a range of meat/vegetarian/local and western dishes. Amazing smoothies, no added sugar and beer in draught! The food was AMAZING! so good that we ate here every night. The staff are super friendly and funny and the owner is a great guy.On our last night we took the guitar down and had a little jam with the owner and our mates.Definitely check this place out

Great food and delicious coconut coffee! We had the beef stew and the chicken taste, which were both really good. And what I love is that they want to minimize plastic use, so there's no single use plastic and you can fill up your water bottle. Great initiative!! 👏

Just had my favourite breakfast in Vietnam!!Ha (the lovely waitress) helped me design a bacon and egg omelette Bàhn Mi. Bacon, omelette, mint, coriander, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, touch of soy sauce and some fish sauce 🤌🏽🤌🏽🤌🏽. This wasn't on the menu but i think it should be.General vibes are awesome and super friendly. Favourite spot in Phong Nha for sure. ❤️❤️

Loved this restaurant. Amazing vegetarian, western and local foods. Free water refills. Friendly staff. Juste note: slightly slow service but allows for longer chats (saw others playing cards..etc)

Solenn M — Google review

The food in the restaurant was very delicious and didn't take very long to get to the table. The staff was not very friendly. It felt like they were a bit stressed with all the people being in the restaurant. And it's a bit more expensive compared to other places where you get similar food. Still a good and cosy place.

I ordered Vegetables and Rice. It was very tasty, a lot of different Vegetables. Also the Dessert, a hot Brownie, was really good! The Ambiente was nice, a little fire in front of the Restaurant.Everything was fine!
